Medieval Yeghegis, Armenia

The volume Medieval Yeghegis, Armenia: History, Archaeology, Society: Local Multiplicities and Global Connections of a Rural Center on the Silk Road(s), edited by Zaroui Pogossian and Michele Nucciotti, is now available in open access.

Published by Brepols in a prestigious series devoted to medieval historical and archaeological studies, the book is the result of years of research carried out by a broad interdisciplinary team. It offers an in-depth analysis of the rural settlement of Yeghegis, in the Vayots‘ Dzor region of Armenia, examined as an active node within the networks of the Silk Road(s).

By integrating history, archaeology, architecture, and epigraphy, the volume adopts innovative methodological approaches—including Light Archaeology—to investigate local dynamics and their Eurasian connections between the ninth and fourteenth centuries. Yeghegis thus emerges as a significant case study for understanding the relationships between landscape, power, and mobility in the medieval period.

This publication brings together and enhances years of fieldwork, analysis, and shared scholarly reflection, and is now freely accessible to both the academic community and the wider public.

The volume is available in open access at the following link.
